Biography

Herbert David MALLAN was born on 2 December 1870 in Marylebone, Middlesex, England[1]. His parents were James Michael MALLAN and Rachel DAVIS.

The steamer, Culgoe set sail from London, England on 25 March 1893 with Herbert MALLAN (age 25, Dentist) among the passengers and arrived in Port Adelaide, Colony of South Australia on 5 May 1893[2][3]. The steamer went on to Melbourne, Colony of Victoria (11 May) and Sydney, Colony of New South Wales (17 May).

Margaretta GLYNN and Herbert David MALLAN were married on 8 November 1893 at the residence of the Archbishop, Adelaide, Colony of South Australia[4].

He passed away on 10 April 1941 in Aldgate, South Australia, Australia[5] and was buried at the Centennial Park Cemetery[6].

Death Of Mr. H. Mallan
Mr. Herbert Mallan, dentist, at Victoria avenue. Unley Park, died yesterday. He was born in London and came to South Australia nearly 50 years ago. He was well known in racing eircles. having won a number of races, including the Grand National Hurdle and the Adelaide Cup. He was also interested in cricket.
