Harriette Ethel Manzer was born on January 27, 1912, in Marysville, New Brunswick, Canada, her father, Rowley, was 39, and her mother, Ethel, was 37. She had two brothers and one sister. She died on March 5, 2008, at the age of 96.

Obituary MANZER, HARRIETTE ETHEL 1912 - 2008 Harriette Ethel Manzer passed away on March 5, 2008 at the age of 96. She was born and brought up in Marysville (now part of Fredericton), York County, NB. She was predeceased by her parents, Rowley and Ethel (Bradley) Manzer; her brother, Harold and his wife, Blanche (Dunbar); her sister, Esther and her husband, Ernest Freeborn; and her brother, William (Bill). She is survived by Bill's widow, Dorothy (Moore) Miller; and her nephews, Ivan and Malcolm Freeborn and David Manzer and their families. Following graduation from Fredericton High School and the Provincial Normal School, Harriette spent several years teaching in rural schools in York and Carleton Counties. Most of her career was spent in the Alexander Gibson Memorial School in Marysville from which she retired in June 1967. In 1978 she moved to Moncton to live close to her sister Esther and Esther's family. Throughout her life, Harriette had been an active member of the Methodist, now United Church. She was both a Charter and a Life Member of the United Church Women Organization in which she held executive positions. She was also active and held executive positions in the Pythian Sisters organization. She was a member of the N.B. Society of Retired Teachers and a Life Member of the Canadian College of Teachers
