Will
His will was written on 28 July 1545 and was proved by his executors on 28 September 1545. Robert asked to be buried in the parish that he died in.He made bequests to the churches of Boroughe upon Bayne, Barkworth, Wythom, Steynton in Holland Est, Wyckam in Lincoln
His Executors were his brother Thomas Merburym, his cousin John Merbury and his mother in law 'maitress Jane Woodfrurth'.
Apart from small bequests, outlined below, the bulk of his estate was bequeathed to his son William. For some reason, William's infant son Robert Marbury, was explicitly disinherited but any future issue would have rights to inherit.
'Item I will that Robert Merburye the first begotten sonne of my sonne Will'm Merbury shall not inherit noe parte parcell or porc'on of my rents lands or tenements within the Counties of Lincolnshire, Darbyshire and Northamptonshire
Item I will that if my sonne William Merbury have hereafter issue lawfully begotten that they shall inherit the forsaid lands but in nowise the forsaid Robert Merbury the sonne of the said William Merbury shall not inherit any parte or porcion of the forsaid landes whiche Robert Merburye was borne in the month of June in the xxxvth yere of the reigne of our said sovereigne Lord King Henry the eight at Olde Wynkill in the house of his grand father John Leynton gentleman.
Item I bequeath to the Robert Merbury fourtie poundes to be paide him at the age of xxi yeres
Item I will that if my sonne William Merbury have no issue lawfully begotten as god forbidde, then I will that my brother Thomas Merbury shall inherit all my forsaid landes and his heires of his body lawfully begotten paying to the said Robert Merbury yf he lyve to the said xxi yeres other fourtie poundes of sterling money and he to make to the said Thomas and his heires a releasse of all such lands as he can make aniy titill to of my inheritance

To Sir Richard Denham xs over and above his wages (note possibly the vicar, Sir was often used as an honorific for a non graduate cleric)
