He passed away in 1770.

1770, April 11. Marshall, John, of Penns Neck, Salem Co.; will of. Wife, Mary, all real and personal during her life, and, after her death, to my stepson, Ananias Elwell, and his heirs, and, for that default, to the heirs of my uncle, Benjamin Hawly. Executors—my wife, and her son, Ananias Elwell. Witnesses—Moses Hill, John Pennington, Samuel Baker. Proved April 23, 1770. 1770, April 21. Inventory, £219.17.4, made by Hance Lambson and Samuel Baker.
