Thomas, aged 24, married Grace Martin, aged 17, on 18 September 1878 at the residence of William Tonkin in Moonta, South Australia, Fathers Thomas Rowe Tonkin and John Martin. [2]

Her husband Thomas passed away in 1890 aged 36 in Eastwood, South Australia.
Widow Grace Tonkin married Philip Bartle on 14 April 1898 at the residence of Mrs Tonkin Eastwood, South Australia. [4]

Husband Philip passed away in 1902.
In 1937 widow Grace Stephens Bartle (Home Duties) lived in Beira, Mt Margaret, Western Australia. Her father-in-law Philip Bartle (Electrical Engineer) and Sheila Iileene Bartle (Home Duties) lived at the Padget Gold Mine, Edjudina. [5]
She passed away in 1942, aged 82 [6] and was buried at the Centennial Park Cemetery. [7]
