Amelia was heavily involved with public affairs and had been a member of Gladstone Tennis Club, Gladstone Amateur Swimming Association, foundation associate member of the Gladstone Golf Club, Gladstone Hockey Club, Girl Guides, Country Women's Association, Agricultural Association, Church of England Ladies' Guild, and an indefatigable worker with the Red Cross especially during the Great War. Amelia passed away at Balcomba Private Hospital at the age of 54 years in 1937. [1] [2] She is interred at the old Gladstone cemetery alongside her husband Walter. [3]
