In the name of God Amen I Samuel Martin of the County of Charlotte being sound in Body mind and memory but calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in form and manner following.
Item I give and bequesth to my Brother Hugh Martin one negro fellow named Bob I give the aforesaid Bob to the aforesaid Hugh Martin to Him and his Heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath to my Mother Ester Martin one Negro man named Sawney During her natril life and at her Decease to be Equally Divided Between all my Brothers and Sisters to them and their Heirs forever.
Item I Leve what Debts is owing to me to pay all my just and lawfull Debts and the Remainder of the money fores'd to be Equally Divided Between all my Brothers and sisters to them and their Heirs forever.
I leve my Brother John Martin and Hugh Martin Executors to this my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have Hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixth Day of March in the year of our Lord 1776 -- Samuel Martin {seal}

At a Court Held for Prince Edward County, August 18th 1777 This Last Will and Testament of Samuel Martin Dec'd was presented in Court and proved by the witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of John Martin who gave Bond and Security and took the Oath required by law Certificate for Obtaining a probat thereof in due form is granted him & leave given the other Executor in s'd Will mentioned to take Execution thereof at another day
