Biography

On 29 April 1912, 38 year old Friederich Marwedel, a tailor emigrating from Germany, arrived at the port of St John's New Brunswick, He was accompanied by 32 year old Wilhelmina, 7 year old Maria, 2year old Magdalena and 1 year old Friedrich. He was the son of Heinrich Marwedel and Dorothea Wolters. The family had departed from thier home in Boreinghassen Germany, leaving behind a brother in law, Ernest Matthies of Hannover. Friedrich had paid the passage for his family on the ship Tunisian, with the ultimate destination to join an uncle, Philip Tadje, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family ultimately settled in Utah. Fred worked as a tailor and lived to the age of 86. He was laid to rest in Logan City Cemetery.
