Biography

John Mason was born about 1805 in Virginia.[1] He is said to be the son of John Mason and Catharina Van Wyck. Family lore is that his paternal grandfather, Peter Maurer, migrated to the United States from Germany.

John married Elizabeth Everts on the 31st of July 1824 in Monongalia.[2][3] Philip Everts, Elizabeth's father, signed the marriage bond with John.[3]
