Biography

Cora was born on 24 Dec 1890 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Thomas Massey and Margaret Austin. She passed away on 20 Mar 1982 and is buried alongside her husband, Jim Hammock, in the White Sulphur Cemetery located in Hardin County, Tennesse.[1]

1900 Census: Cora is living with her parents and siblings in Tishomingo County, Mississippi where her father is a day laborer.

1930 Census: Cora (38) and James (46) are living in Hardin County, Tennessee. The record shows that Cora was 18 when she married James and that the couple have 8 children; sons Eldrig (18), Mckinley (10), Ottie (7), Ezra (6), and Glenn (8 months); daughters Kate (21), Etta (16), and Eileen (3).[4]
