Paul T. Masucci, 82, Altoona, died Monday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Luigi and Mary (Servello) Masucci. He married Julie S. Gray on April 11, 1959.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Marc T. (Karen) and Jeff L., both of Altoona; two daughters: Julie Welshans (Pat) and Paula McClellan (Jim), both of Altoona; 10 grandchildren: Matthew, Mitchell, Corey and Tyler Masucci, Kylie, Haylie and Brady Welshans and Chelsea, Brandon and Parker McClellan; five great-grandchildren: Arielle, Alex and Zach Masucci and Rylie and Malachi Welshans; two sisters: Helen Wagner of Altoona and Lena Alloway of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip; and two sisters: Annie Larkins and Katherine Longo.
Paul was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as a shipping and receiving manager from Butterick Co. Inc. after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Paul was vice president of the East End Little League and was instrumental in building the East End Little League field. He was an avid softball player for Butterick, and he enjoyed sports, especially Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and spending time with his family.
There will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Committal will be at Cavalry Cemetery. Contributions may be made in the form of Masses or to St. Mark's Catholic Church in Paul's memory.
Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.[1]
