Biography

Linda Joyce Colby was born June 17, 1947, in Barstow, California, to Willard Thomas and Barbara Joyce Dyar Mathews. She died Saturday, May 1, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years. Linda was reared and educated in Barstow, California, and graduated with the Barstow High School Class of 1965. She was married one day after her graduation on June 11, 1965, in Barstow to Barry Edward Colby. Linda owned and operated a very successful cleaning business in Barstow for 10 years. She was a faithful member of Barstow First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She and Barry moved to Owasso, Oklahoma, in 1989, and she began working with American Airlines as a parts cleaner. After moving to Owasso, they became members of First Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but none more than her family and family gatherings. She was especially fond of her role of "Grandma" to her grandchildren and "GG" to her great grandchildren. Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: Her children; Scott Colby and wife Renee', of Owasso, Oklahoma Deanna Moore and husband Gary, of Owasso, Oklahoma Grandchildren; Cherish McCormick and husband Logan, of Oologah, Oklahoma Cheyenne Colby, of Owasso, Oklahoma Great grandchildren; Journie Mae McCormick Axel Logan McCormick Oakley Joseph McCormick And her beloved dog, Gunner She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barry, and one brother, Wayne Mathews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contribution be made to First Baptist Church Owasso/The Mission, for Linda Colby, P.O. Box 1020, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055.
