Biography

Charles was born in 1855. He is the son of James Mays.

Charles married Margaret J. Ludwick in 1875. ^[1]

In 1880, Charles and Sally are enumerated on the federal census in Rockbridge County, Virginia, next to Margaret's parents. ^[2]

Research Notes

Charles is a cabinet maker. It is unclear what became of Charles. A genealogy on ancestry from someone who appears to have good information about other family members can say only that Charles died before 1899 in California. There is no record of Charles dying in California, and, unlike the rest of the family who died in California, he has no apparent grave there. It is possible that he died on his way to California rather than in California.
