Biography

Ensign R. H. McAdoo, USNRF, was designated Naval Aviator #1955 in 1918. Discharged from active service in 1921.

Brother to William Jr., NA#236, also buried at ANC. Robert had married the former Miss Lorraine Rowan on Dec. 24, 1923 in Pasadena, Calif., but divorced by 1936.

Los Angeles Times Jan. 11, 1937: Death Takes McAdoo's Son Victim of Pneumonia Dies at New York Home With Father at Side

NEW YORK, Jan. 10. (AP) -- Robert H. McAdoo, 38-year-old son of United States Senator McAdoo, died at his home here tonight of pneumonia. He had been ill since Wednesday. The Senator was at the bedside.The son was in the investment banking and insurance business. At 18 years of age, when the United States entered the World War, he enlisted in the Navy. He later was transferred to naval aviaton and was about to obtain his pilot's commission when the armistice was signed.

Afterward he studied at Princeton University for three years and then entered Babson Institute. From the latter school of business near Boston he entered offices here. McAdoo was the son of the thrice-married Senator and his first wife, the former Sarah H. Fleming of Chattanooga, Tenn., died in 1912. Robert was born in Yonkers, N. Y. in November 1898.
