Obit: GURDON – Billy Wayne McArty, 60, of Gurdon, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at home. Born May 31, 1949, in Shiloh Community, to William Thomas and Willie Guy Smith McArty, he was a heavy equipment operator and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church, Curtis. He was predeceased by one sister, Alice Pearl Lookadoo.

Survivors include two children, Marlinda Francis and William Wayne McArty, both of Arkadelphia; one brother, Elmer McArty, of Gurdon; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Shady Grove Baptist Church, Curtis, with Brother Lloyd Baumgardner officiating.

Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Cemetery Fund. The family will be at the home of Elmer McArty, 238 Stephenson Road, Gurdon. Arrangements are by Welch Funeral Home, Arkadelphia. Copyright 2009, The Sentinel-Record.
