John married Elizabeth Young (FamilySearch Profile) on 25 July 1828 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland.[2] One of his children was James Mccartney (7 March 1830 – 11 July 1920).
John died on 13 August 1891 in 13 Cross Street, Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, aged 85.
