Biography

Thomas McClelland was born about 1830 in Ireland.

His son was William Robert Campbell Simpson (1849–1908).

Thomas died after 1850 in Australia, aged about 19.

Research Notes

Simpson family sources report that Thomas McClelland was born in 1830 in Ireland, emigrated to New South Wales in 1839 and worked as a farm labourer. Nothing else is known of him except that he fathered a child born to the unmarried Barbara Simpson.^[1] Nothing further is known of the biological father of baby William. A person named Thomas McClelland died in North Willoughby, New South Wales in 1878^[2] but it was not the same person.
