Hugh was born in 1882 and his birth was registered in Caledon, Peel County, Ontario, Canada.[1][2]
Hugh was enumerated in Halton County, Esquesing township (where Georgetown is) in 1891. [3] Hugh, age 9, was living with parents, Dugald (39) and Mary (35), and siblings: Jennie, James and Christina - each two years apart in age. Dugald was a farmer. [4]
The next family in this census (same page) is also McColl: farmer Angus (age 46), his sister Cecilia (age 42) and their parents, Hugh (78, born in Scotland) and Christina (73, born in Ontario of Scottish parents).
1901 Census of Canada: Hugh R. McColl, age 19, was living with his parents, Dugald and Mary F., in the City of Toronto. Dugald was working as an "Electric Machinist". Hugh and his sister Jennie/Janie? were no longer at school.[5]
It appears that Hugh was also enumerated in 1901 with his Uncle Angus McColl on April 15/16 in Esquesing township of Halton County on the farm. Hugh's grandmother Christina McColl was also still living there in 1901. [6]
He passed away in 1966.[7]
