Biography

DeFrance McCormack was born in 1905 in Yazoo. He was the youngest son of William McCormack and Nannnie Turnage. He had six siblings, two of which died as infants. Throughout his life he was also known as Percy, Jack and John.

He was referred to as Percy in the 1910 census. His family moved from Yazoo to Washington before 1910. His father was a farmer^[1].

He married a woman named Alma Crapps circa 1928 and lived with her in Vicksburg, Warren^[2] and later in Attala by 1940^[3]. He worked as a pipe foreman in Vicksburg and a park ranger in Attala.

DeFrance lived in Jackson, Mississippi in later life^[4]. He died here in 1998 aged ninety three^[5].
