Norman McDermid was born on June 26, 1866 in Palmers Island, Colony of New South Wales, son of Alexander McDermid (1829–1916) and Catherine Cannon Cameron (1840–1912).
Norman (25) married Alexandra Helen Cameron (16) (born in 1875 in Maclean, New South Wales) on February 8, 1892 in Maclean, Colony of New South Wales.[1] Their children were:
