Bridget was born in 1818 in Ireland. Bridget McDonnell ... Wedding witnesses were Cath Boland and Margaret Smyth.
She passed away in 1878 in Chicago, Illinois and had been living there as Bridget Gilray or Gilroy since at least 1860. In 1860, Bridget and her husband John had four Smith boys living with them: Patrick, John, Michael and Thomas. Patrick and John were both born in Ireland and both were working. The younger two were born in Canada and "Lake Michigan" respectively and were still at school. Mary "McDonald", who could have been a McDonnell, age 75 was also living with this family.
In 1870, Bridget was still living in Chicago with Patrick and John Smith, and she was listed as Smith, age 50. Is this the same family? The ages are right, although John Smith's occupation as a Brick Mason is not completely compatible with his being a bookkeeper in 1860. John Gilroy is not listed here.
