James Ray McElhenny son of George Coleman McElhenny Sr. and Lisba Eulah (Godwin) McElhenny, was born on 6 September 1944 in Quitman, Brooks County, Georgia.^[1][2] He appeared on the census of 5 May 1950 in the home of his parents at Chatham County, Georgia. ^[3]

He married Rachel Jane Collier, daughter of Barney Collier and Sarah Leta (Everett) Collier, in August 1965 in Palm Beach County, Florida.^[4] Rachel and James were divorced on 29 May 1979 at Hendry County, Florida.^[5]

James died on 11 January 2002^[2]
