James McGeown was born in Ireland.

James was born in 1916. [1] [2] [3] He was the son of William McGeown (Weaver and Soldier) and Elizabeth Watson.

James McGeown married Dilys Evans in 1940 in Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Wales. [4]

James McGeown enlisted with the British Army and served as a Sergeant with the 1st Battalion, London Irish Rifles (Territorial Battalion), Regimental Number 6977443.

He passed away in 1944. [5]

His was killed in action during the Battle of Monte Cassino and has a memorial at the Cassino Memorial, Provincia di Frosinone, Lazio, Italy. [6]
