Biography

Andrew McGhee was born in Scotland.

Andrew Ferrier McGhee was born in the parish of Falkirk on 13 October 1870 and was the second son of James McGhee and Joan Ferrier.

On the 1871 census, Andrew, aged 5 months, and his older brother, Alexander, aged 3 years, are staying with their maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Milholden, who has remarried.^[1]

On the 1881 census, Andrew, aged 10 years, is living in Todd's Close, High Street, Falkirk, with his parents and brother, James, aged 2 years.^[2]

Andrew married Alice Greenaway in the parish of Falkirk on 28 December 1894 and they had four children.^[3]

On the 1921 census, Andrew, an iron moulder, and Alice are living at 21 Grange Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, with their children: Andrew (19 years) and Alice (25 years). Andrew Jr is an iron moulder like his father and Alice Jr is working as a hat manufacturer. They also have a Belgian domestic servant, Helena Florence Machelberger, and her son, Alfred, living with them.^[5]

Andrew Ferrier McGhee died, aged 82 years, in 1953.^[6]
