Biography
John McGorery came free to the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)
John was born in 1840. He was the son of Thomas McGorery.
He emigrated to South Australia as a 9 year old with his family aboard the Osecola, arriving in 1851. [1]
John was a member of the John McDouall Stuart expedition 1861-61. He was the "shoeing smith' accompanying the expedition. [2] [3] [4] See Free space page for Stuart’s expeditions for more information.
He passed away in 1914. [5] His obituary is found on 'Trove'. [6] [7] He is buried in West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide. via the Find A Grave: Memorial #159504359.
