Biography

Anstruther McGowan was born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1869, the son of James Hairstens McGowan and Annie Fuller Marshall.^[1]

On the 31st March 1911, he married Alice Mabel Smith, daughter of Charles Ross Cholmondeley Smith (1834–1935) and Sarah Shaw Littledyke,^[2] which marriage ended in divorce in 1918.^[3]

Anstruther McGowan died at Torbay near Auckland in 1936, and was buried in Pioneer Cemetery on Deep Creek Road, Torbay.^[4][5]
