- Film Star Is Son of Ex-Resident
- Hurd Hatfield, currently to be seen in "Diary of a Chambermaid," feature presentation at Loew's Theater, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. McGuire, former resident of this city for many years. Mr. McGuire was superintendent of the Sunday School at First Baptist Church, this city, and lived on South First Avenue.
- Adele MrGuire, Hurd Hatfield's mother, lived here until her marriage to William Hatfield, then took up residence in New York City. They now live in Hollywood with their son.
