Margaret (McGuire) Renehan was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Margaret McGuire was born in 1849, at Gunning, New South Wales, Australia, daughter of James McGuire (1807-1975) and Rosanna Gaffney (1811-1885).

Margaret (20) married William Renehan (25) (born in 1844 in Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland) in 1870 in Breadalbane, New South Wales.[1] Their children were:

She passed away on 17 November 1919, at Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia.[2]

The death occurred at St. Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst, on the 17th ult., of Mrs. Margaret Renehan, relict of the late Mr. William Renehan, of Woodburn, Cootamundra. The deceased lady was born near Gunning, in the year 1849, and had passed her 70th year when the summons came. She was married at Gunning in 1870, and three years later went with her husband to Cootamundra, to reside on a selection on the Berthong-road, afterwards selling it to the late Mr. Corby. In 1878 the property, Woodburn, was acquired, and Mrs. Renehan, with her family went to live on this property, which had been her home for over 40 years. Her husband died in 1908, and her youngest son, Edmund, was killed in the Somme advance in 1917. The surviving members of the family are four sons - Mr. J. T. Renehan (of Cootamundra), and Messrs. Will, Frank, and Joe Renehan (of Woodburn) - and three daughters - Mrs. W. B. Blakeney (of Neutral Bay), Mrs. H. B. Perrignon (of Randwick), and Miss Sarah Renehan (of Woodburn). To them the sympathy of a wide circle of friends has gone out in the loss of a devoted mother. Her brother, Mr. Patrick Maguire, late of Bandangan, and her sisters - Mrs. Michael Renehan (of Cootamundra), and Mrs. J. Canty (of Wyalong) - also survive her. The remains were brought to Cootamundra, and were laid to rest alongside those of her husband in the Catholic Cemetery, Cootamundra, the last sad offices for the dead be ing conducted by Dean O'Shaughnessy. - R.I.P.[3]

Margaret was buried on 19 November 1919, at Cootamundra General Cemetery, Cootamundra, New South Wales, Australia.[4]
