Birth and Origins

William John McKay was born 20 Sept 1902, Queensland, Australia, son of John McKay and Juliana Pauline Krieger[1]

Marriage and Family

He married Margaret McKibbin 6 June 1928, at Walkerston Presbyterian Church, Mackay, Queensland Australia.

"WEDDING BELLS.
MeKAY-McKIBBIN. — Long before the hour appointed for the ceremony, spectators and friends began to assemble at the Walkerston Presbyterian Church on June 6. when the marriage was celebrated of Mr. William McKay, second son oi Mr. and Mrs. John McKay i Palmyra), and Miss Margaret McKibbin, only daughter of Mr.McKibbin, Killieless. Antrim. Ireland. The service was fully choral and Rev. B. H. Wotherspoon was the officiating clergyman.[2]

"The duties oi best man were carried out by Mr. Leslie McKay, brother of bridegroom" and "a beautiful veil, which was lent by Mrs. O. Krieger"(Frances (Cork) Krieger, who had herself married Otto Krieger only a couple months earlier).

Mrs Pauline Krieger was chief bridesmaid, Miss Essie McKay the second bridesmaid. "After a sumptuous feast, the chairman proposed the toast of the King; the Bride and Bridegroom by Rev. Wotherspoon :Bridesmaids. Mrs. Ford; Bridegroom's Relatives. Mr. Otto Krieger; Bride's Relatives. Mr. Simpson; Absent Friends. Mr. Sam McKay; Chairman. Mr. John McKay. Mr. A. H. Tidemann and other old friends also spoke of the high esteem in which the bridegroom was held, and congratulated them on having entered into the matrimonial ranks, and wished them both all the good things through out their lives."[3]

They had children:

  • Thomas McKay b. c. 1903 d. 29 July 1905 (Aged 15 months)

Death

He died 2nd Aug 1968 (aged 65) Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia and was buried at Walkerston Cemetery, Walkerston, Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia, PLOT Presbyterian Section 1, Line # 12, Plot 37[4]
