On 16th May 1934, Ellen McKay died at Lewisham, New South Wales, aged seventy-six years.[2] Her body was buried in the family plot in Rookwood cemetery.[3]
The Sydney Morning Herald published the following death notice:
McKay—May 16, at the Lewisham Private Hospital, Ellen (Nellie), eldest daughter of the late Charles McKay, M.D., and Ellen McKay, and sister of Dr. Stewart McKay and Mrs. Cecil Lamb. [4]
