Biography

Ellen McKay was born at Sydney in 1857, the daughter of Dr. Charles McKay and Ellen Gilbert.^[1][2][3]

On 16th May 1934, Ellen McKay died at Lewisham, New South Wales, aged seventy-six years.^[2] Her body was buried in the family plot in Rookwood cemetery.^[3]

The Sydney Morning Herald published the following death notice:

McKay—May 16, at the Lewisham Private Hospital, Ellen (Nellie), eldest daughter of the late Charles McKay, M.D., and Ellen McKay, and sister of Dr. Stewart McKay and Mrs. Cecil Lamb. ^[4]
