Aberdeen Press and Journal - Monday 22 March 1937, p 8: "PROFESSOR R.M'KERRON SUDDEN DEATH IN EDINBURGH NOTED EXPERT IN MIDWIFERY – VALUED SERVICES TO ABERDEEN Taken suddenly ill in Edinburgh, where he had gone to attend the Rugby international match between Scotland and England, Emeritus Professor Robert Gordon M'Kerron, one of the most popular professors who have taught at Aberdeen University, died in a nursing home there yesterday morning. A keen rugby enthusiast, Professor M'Kerron left Aberdeen on Friday in the best of spirits, but on Saturday forenoon he turned ill and decided not to go to Murrayfield to see the match. BRILLIANT CAREER It was only last year that Professor M'Kerron retired from the Regius Chair of Midwifery, which he had occupied for twenty-two years, and at the forthcoming spring graduation he was to receive the degree of LL.D. Professor M'Kerron is survived by Mrs M'Kerron, and a family of two sons and three daughters. Mr. P. A. B. M'Kerron is in the Malayan Civil Service, while the other son, Mr Robert Gordon M'Kerron, is Professor of Law in the University of South Africa. The daughters are Mrs C. W. Dawson, whose husband is in the Malayan Civil Service; Mrs Duncan Knight, London; and Miss Jean G. M'Kerron who is at home. (Abridged)" [1]
