"George McNear, 74, Anthon, Succumbs; Rites Will Be Friday

George McNear, sr., 74, retired farmer and stockman of Anthon, died at a Sioux City hospital Wednesday morning. Mr. McNear was born near Oto May 6, 1876. He married Edna Myers of Anthon July 22, 1914.

Survivors are the widow; three brothers, Fred and Henry McNear of Sioux City and Richard McNear of Anthon; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Dicus of Sioux City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Anthon Methodist church. Rev. A. A. Howe will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial park cemetery in Sioux City under the direction of the Hudgel funeral home of Anthon." (The Sioux City Journal, June 1, 1950.)
