William was born on the 8 February 1828 in the Village of Fife Keith, and baptized on the 15 February 1828 at the Parish Church of St. Rufus, in the Town of Keith, in the Parish of Keith, Banffshire, Scotland[1][2]. He was the son of Andrew (McPherson) and Helen (McIntosh), who married on the 1 December 1822 at the Parish Church of St. Rufus, in the Town of Keith, Banffshire, Scotland[3][4].
William married Isobel "Isabella" Horn on the 13 February 1848 at the Parish Church, set high on a knoll, overlooking the small Hamlet of Forgue, on the Burn of Forgue, southwest of the Village of Inverkeithny, Parish of Forgue, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland[5][6]. The following children were born to the couple:--
Ann (McPherson), born 2 April 1848; bap. 13 April 1848 in Forgue, Aberdeenshire[7];
Isabella (McPherson) Geddes, born 9 August 1852; bap. 14 August 1852 in Insch, Aberdeenshire[8];

In 1851, William (22) and Isabella (27) lived in the Hamlet of Largue, southeast of the Hamlet of Forgue, Parish of Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The couple lived with children Isabella (3) and William (7 months)[13]. By 1861, the family have moved to Overton, in the Village of Insch, in the Garioch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. William (33) and Isabella (37) resided with their children William (10), Isabella (8), Donald (5), Helen (3) and Mary (8 months)[14].
After Isabella's death in 1864, William found himself, in 1871, as a Patient at the Banff District Asylum, a few miles west of the Burgh of Banff, in the Parish of Boyndie, Banffshire, Scotland[15]. At around the age of 44 (even though his certificate has his age of 46), William passed away on the 29 January 1872, at 8.30 am, at the Banff District Asylum, a few miles west of the Burgh of Banff, in the Parish of Boyndie, Banffshire, Scotland. The cause of death was attributed to a Tumour in the Brain, which he'd had for years, Epilepsy and Asphyxias (Suffocation). The Superintendent of the Asylum, Donald (McCulloch) was the informant of his death. Around the time of his admission to the Asylum, he'd been living in the Town of Keith, Banffshire, Scotland[16].
