Mary Emiline McLachlan was born on 23 Sep 1854 in Woolwich, Kent, England to parents Samuel McLachlan and Lydia Matilda Howgill.
Mary had a child with George Pearson named Emily Georgina Pearson 1872 in Inverness, Scotland. Emily Georgina was brought up by family in Nairn. She had 2 children and remained in Nairn with all the family. She died in 1920.
Mary married John Balfour on 18 Nov 1875 in Inverness, Scotland.[1]
Children: John, Jessie, Robert Brander, Charles, Walter James, Ruby Alice, Claude Frederick, Percival William, Arthur Howard.
They emigrated to Australia in 1883 with John, Jessie and Robert Brander. They arrived in South Australia on the four-masted ship 'Romsdal'
After her husband John died in 1907, Mary Emiline Balfour married Frederick George Ketley on the 5th of October 1909 in St Bartholomew's Church, Norwood, South Australia, Australia.[2]
She died on 19 Dec 1920 at Norwood, South Australia, Australia, and was buried on 21 Dec 1920 in the West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide, South Australia. [3][4]
