Thomas Edward was baptized at Hentland on 14th Dec 1830 .
Thomas Edward was employed by Charles Hawkins in Gloucester as a Draper's Apprentice up until 1851 . From the 1840s there was a "Gold Rush" in Australia , during the 1850s gold prospecting immigrants reached it's highest number and in Nov 1852 with his brother Edmund Joseph Meats , Thomas Edward set off for Australia on the ship the DINAPORE . Both brothers worked in the mining industry in Australia , both being the main shareholders of the MOA MINING COMPANY.
In 1880 he married widow Sarah Johnstone at her residence in Hobart Town , Tasmania .
In 1899 Thomas registered a patent for a machine for extracting minerals known as " The Giant Gold or Tin Seperator" .
Thomas died aged 72yrs in Hobart .
