Biography
Charles Medd was born in 1863 in Allerston, Yorkshire, England to James Medd and Ann (Brown) Medd. His birth was registered in Pickering, Yorkshire in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Brown.[1]
Charles Medd, son of James & Ann, was christened on 29 Nov 1863 in Allerston.[2][3]
In 1871 Charles Medd (age 8, Scholar) lived in Scarborough, Yorkshire with his father James (40, Agricultural Labourer), mother Ann (36), and six siblings: James (17, Agricultural Labourer), William (12, Scholar), Hannah (9, Scholar), Robert (5, Scholar), Thomas (2), and George (0).[4]
In 1881 Charley Mead [Medd] (age 18, Farm Servant Indoor) was a lodger in Folkton, Yorkshire in the household of David Overfield (52, Hind Over 300 Acres) - also in the household were David's wife, daughter, five servants, and one other lodger.[5]
Charles Medd (age 22, residing at Scarborough, son of James Medd) and Mary Maria Denton (age 24, residing at Scarborough, daughter of Stephen Denton) were married on 18 Jan 1886 at Saint Mary's with Holy Apostles in Scarborough, Yorkshire.[6][7] The marriage was registered in Scarborough in the first quarter of the year.[8]
In 1891 Charles Medd (age 27, Police Constable) lived at Cemetery Road in Scarborough with his wife Maria M (29), daughter Elsie J (3), and son Arthur D (2).[9]
In 1901 Charles Medd (age 37, Police Constable) lived at Columbus Ravine in Scarborough with his wife Mary M (39), daughter Ellen[Elsie] J (13), and son Arthur D (12).[10]
In 1911 Charles Medd (age 47, Police Constable) lived in Scarborough with his wife Mary M (49) and daughter Elsie J (23, Domestic Help).[11]
In 1921 Charles Medd (age 58) lived in Cayton, Yorkshire with his wife Mary M (60), son-in-law David Robson (36), daughter Elsie Jane Robson (34), and two granddaughters: Esma Sunday Robson (7) and Doris Mary Robson (3).[12]
Charles Medd passed away on 9 Sep 1934, aged 71 years. His death was registered in Scarborough in the third quarter of the year.[13]
He is buried at Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery in Scarborough.[14]
