Obituary

MR. JOHN MEES.

There passed away in hospital at Kempsey yesterday (Monday) Mr. John Mees, aged 65 years. Deceased, who was born at Nottingham, England, came to Australia about 45 years ago and married Miss L. M. Mohr of Smithtown, some 28 years ago. Deceased was well-known as a warder at the Trial Bay prison. After leaving Trial Bay he did duty at Darlinghurst, Goulburn and Broken Hill. He retired about five years ago, when he returned to the Macleay and took up farming at Glenrock. Deceased leaves a widow, two daughters and one son. These are Mrs. R. Webster, of Glen-rock, Miss Sophie Mees, of Smithtown, and Mr. Ernest Mees, of Glenrock. The funeral took place this morning, after a short service at All Saints' Church of England by Archdeacon Curtis, and proceeded to the cemetery at West Kempsey, where the body was inter-red. Canon Ware officiated at the graveside. ^[1]
