Biography
Dorothea Margarethe was born in 1743. She passed away in 1780.
Research Note
Dorothea Margarethe was born at farm no. 10 in Garlstorf but apparently not as daughter of the main farming family. The older generation, Claus and Marlene Mencke, are too old to be her parents (born in 1688 and 1684 respectively), whereas the younger generation, Hans Christoph and Catharina Elisabeth Mencke, married in 1747, four years after Dorothea Margarethe‘s birth. So she is either a daughter of a non-inheriting younger brother of Claus, who lived and worked at the farm under his older brother, or she is a pre-marital daughter of Hans Christoph.[1]
