OBITUARY: Edna Selma (Mertink) Noack, 84, of Serbin, was born on February 17, 1930 in Serbin, Texas to Alvin & Selma (Hohle) Mertink. She was baptized on February 23, 1930 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Herman Schmidt. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 3:11, "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

Edna attended school at St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin and was united in marriage to Harold Alfred Noack on November 7, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Arthur Arndt. While living in Houston, Edna would babysit children who all thought of her as their "granny". Following Harold's retirement, they moved back to Serbin in 1987. Edna was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Texas Wendish Heritage Society and the Giddings American Legion York Post 276 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and helped make noodles for the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum for several years.
