Biography

Alma was born in 1907. Alma Mew ... She passed away in 1999.

Alma was hit by a car when she was fifteen, in June, and was not expected to walk again. She did walk but if tired would limp a little. She was 5 ft 2 1/2 inches tall, with dark hair and eyes. She worked for Eaton's in Saskatoon as a young woman, and after Ralph died, she took a secretarial course and worked for W E Dempsey, Real Estate, in New Westminster. She also got an Insurance certificate so she could sell property insurance for Dempseys. Alma's birth certificate says Alma Lucy Pearl Mew but all business papers after that, including her marriage certificate say Alma Lucie and she has signed papers that way up to 1972 which are the last business papers I have. Ralph would tease her by calling her Alma Lucy Pearl but she always said emphatically "My name is not Pearl!" Alma is buried in Grave 1, Plot 115, Cherry, with Ralph. She said the birth of herself and her brother Harry were "registered at Dominion City, Manitoba, born, I suppose, in the District of Overstone. Art was born in Ridgeville, Manitoba. The brother who died was born March 17, 1911, same area as Harry and I. His name was George Patrick. Dorothy was born in Southampton England."
