Valeree Lane
My mom was nine years younger than Uncle Donald. She vividly remembered being a small child and Donald taking her into the soda cooler in Granny's store. He'd pop the cap off of RC Colas and let the carbonation tickle her chin.

I remember Donald as a good man who cared for Granny until her death. She was in a wheelchair and had dementia, but he'd take her to visit family in the Los Angeles area. When she was ready to leave, she'd always say, "Come on, Donald, let's go." That's become a go-to phrase in my immediate family, when it's time to leave.
