Biography

Henson H. Monroe was born on April 2, 1797, Loudoun County, Virginia.

Henson Monroe was married to Eliza Campbell on August 8, 1819, in Shelburne Parish, Loudoun County, Virginia.[1] Two of his brothers married two of Eliza's sisters. Eliza was the daughter of Andrew and Jane (Carr) Campbell. The couple were parents of the following known children:

Nancy Monroe Wyatt[2][3] who was married before the 1850 Census.
James Henry Monroe[4] who was married before the 1850 Census.
Henson T Monroe[5]
Virginia Ann Monroe Hardesty[6]
Josephine Monroe Baker[7]

By the time this couple's second child, James Henry Monroe was born in 1824, they had moved to Pennsylvania. Soon after that they returned to Virginia for about ten years.

Henson Monroe settled in Shelby County, Ohio circa 1836.[8][9][10]

Both Eliza and Henson died in Shelby County, Ohio. Henson died on June 12, 1853. Eliza died thirty years later on March 12, 1883.[11] They are both buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Orange Township, Shelby County, Ohio.[12]
