In Burlington, Kansas, R. K. Crellin and Harold Montgomery purchased one of the largest flour, feed and seed houses in eastern Kansas. Harold was Sheriff of Coffee County, Kansas from 1939 to 1942. He used to chase bootleggers during that time.

He moved his family to Pocatello, Idaho in March of 1945 and worked briefly for the railroad then got a job as a city policeman, working the night shift for years. He was a Third Degree Mason, and worked up the Scottish Rite. In 1963, he suffered a major stroke and in 1966, they moved to a small 2 and 1/2 acre place in southeast Boise, Idaho.
