Biography

Nathaniel was born in 1757. He was the son of Alexander Montgomery and Eleanor Moore.

He assumed in right of his mother, the surname and arms of MOORE.

He was elected an MP in the Parliament of Ireland for County Tyrone in 1781 and for Strabane in 1798 and was appointed High Sheriff of Tyrone for 1786–77. He was Colonel of the Tyrone Militia. He sat in the last Irish Parliament for county Tyrone, and voted for the Union.

Nathaniel married Mary Anne Boyd, the daughter of Alexander Boyd, of Ballycastle, Co. Antrim in 1785

1. Alexander James b. 15 February 1786 married 24 April 1832, Susanna Matcham, youngest daughter of George Matcham, of Ashfold Lodge, Sussex and Catherine Nelson.
2. Acheson married Eliza Pennefather in 1810
3. Nathaniel b. 3 November 1789 married Agnes Cox, of Exeter, d. 1823
4. Robert J.P. and D.L. co. Tyrone, and High Sheriff 1834, married 1840, Annie Maria Wilhelmina, daughter of Baron de Wolmaar. He died in 1873.
5. James, died young
6. Anna Maria d. 1813 unmarried
7. Sydney married Thomas Smallcombe, of Bath, and died1838.
8. Ellen married Col. De Naucaze, of the French Service, only son of the Marquis de Naucaze, of Auvergne.

He died in 1834.

Died on the 5th inst., at Versailles, Nathaniel Montgomery Moore Esq., late of Garvey Castle, in the county of Tyrone, in the 77th year of his age, many years Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Tyrone Militia, and one of the representatives of said county in the Irish House of Commons
