Mebane - Governor Vance Moretz, 93, of Rt. 4 died Monday afternoon at his home after one year of failing health. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. E. L. Epperson and the Rev. A. S. Long officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
A native of Watauga County, he was a retired self-employed lumberman.
Surviving are widow, Mrs. Lucy H. Moretz; daughters, Mrs. Oscar Long of Ahoskie, Mrs. Dewey Briston of Southern Pines, Mrs. Melvin Wiseman of Galax, Va., Mrs. Walter Isley Jr of Rt. 4, Mebane and Mrs. Mary Smith of Detroit Mich.; sons James Moretz of Galax, Va., Charles Moretz of Rt. 4, Burlington, J. R. Moretz of Rt. 4, Mebane; brother Lloyd Moretz of Boone; sisters, Mrs. Fate Bumgardner of Newcomb, Ohio and Mrs. Ruby Coffey, of Lenoir; 28 grandchildren.
