Henry arrived in New York on 15 May 1865 aboard the ship "City of Boston".He was recorded as 22 years old and a miner.[4]
He married Mary Watson on December 25, 1870 in Mercer, Pennsylvania, United States. [citation needed] Mary had immigrated to the US with her 5 year old son Robert Watson from Scotland a few months earlier. Together they had at least 7 children:
