According to which of the census returns you base your data on, Amy Morris was born in either the parish of Roch, or Nolton. But as yet I have not found a baptism in either parish. The fact she is a Welsh speaker suggests that she may well, be from one of the adjoining parishes, such as Hayscastle, Brawdy, Llanrian etc. The facts are that Amy married David in 1868 at Nolton parish church. After the wedding the couple can found next be found on record, on the 1871 census for Nolton, by which time they have a daughter Alice (b 1780). As yet I have not researched the 1881 census for Nolton and have no data regarding the couple. But they turn up in 1891 at Nolton parish. With them at that address are four more additions to the family, these are, Thomas (b 1880) Stephen (b 1883) Benjamin (b 1866) and Henry (b 1888) By 1901 the couple can still be found living in the parish of Nolton. With them at the family home is one of their elder children Charles, who was born in 1876, and failed to turn up on previous census returns, And Henry. Also at that address is a granddaughter, Ethel M Davies born 1898 at Nolton. As yet I have not located Ethel’s parents, and as such have no information on them. As yet I have not researched David and Amy beyond 1901 and have little to add to their profile. Written by Keith Rees 2016
