Biography

Richard Morris was born in 1899 in Mortomley, Yorkshire. He was the son of John Morris and Harriet (Parkin) Morris.

By March 31st 1901, John and Harriet were living in Mortomley, and John was working as a coal hewer. They had two children - Joseph aged 4, and Richard aged 1.

By April 2nd 1911, John and Harriet had moved to Ludworth in Barnsley district. John was working as a coal hewer at Grimethorpe colliery; Joseph, now 14, was a winch lad underground.

John probably died in 1931 in Barnsley district, aged 58.
