Biography

Margaret was born on 10 Oct 1835 in Tennessee. Her parents have not been confirmed but may have been Peter Morris and Mary Jarrett (see "Research Notes—Parents" below).

She married John Hink sometime before the end of 1850. They had 7 children, including:

• Henry (1851-1904)
• Sarah (1859-1913)
• Charity E (c1860->1870)
• Charles (1870-1960)
• Maggie May (1873-1950)

She died on 19 Mar 1907 in Waynoka, Oklahoma.

Parents

Margaret's parents have not been confirmed. She and John Hink had their first child in Aug 1851. As John Hink does not appear to be married in the 1850 US census^[1], it appears they were married sometime after 1 Jun 1850, likely in or around Jackson County, Missouri where John lived. There is a "Margaret Morris"^[2] (aged 15) living in Ray County, Missouri on 1 Jun 1850^[3], just across the Missouri River from Jackson County. She was the daughter of Peter Morris (1798-1838) and and Mary Jarrett (1809-c1867). In 1850, she was living with her mother and her second husband, Charles Shrewsbury. According to the 1850 census, she was born in Missouri, while later censuses for John Hink's wife Margaret indicates that she was born in Tennessee. Nonetheless, this could be an error, and they could be the same person.
