Biography

RICHBURG - Robert A. Moyer Sr., 91, formerly of 255 Main St., died Monday (Aug. 24, 2015) at Buffalo VA Medical Center.

Born on Feb. 15, 1924, in Bolivar, he was a son of Sally J. (Charles L.) Gilliland Warner and Albert Moyer. On Nov. 23, 1946, in Obi, he married Leola M. Moyer, who died in 2011.

Mr. Moyer was employed as a roustabout, working in area oil fields, before he was inducted into the U.S. Army on Jan. 14, 1943. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Ardennes, Central Europe, at Normandy, Northern France, and in the Rhineland, according to his enlistment record. He was honorably discharged Nov. 25, 1945, after nearly three years of service. Afterward, he was employed as a laborer at I.W. Miller, a cinder block manufacturer. He later did odd jobs. For the past few years, he was cared for by his daughter, Nancy.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jozwiak of Elma; five sons, Robert Moyer Jr. of Rochester, Steven (Jeanie) Moyer of New Jersey, Jay Moyer, Jack (Jody) Moyer of Little Genesee and Scott (Mary) Moyer of Richburg; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane Crooks of Gainesville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Warren Moyer and Richard Moyer.

Burial will be in Richburg Cemetery.
